Description

A fantastic Regency rosewood davenport desk. A most elegant example with leather writing surface which smoothly slides forward to give and overhanging workspace. There is a small pen and ink drawer which pulls open and hinges forward for use. The top opens to reveal a beautiful burr maple interior with ample storage space with two useful drawers above two dummy drawers. This davenport offers four subtly graduated oak lined drawers with dummy drawers on the opposing side. All with quality brass knob handed and ebonised escutcheons. Raised on beautiful Gillows type feet with the original concealed castors. Circa 1820 - 1830. A beautiful example, having been sensitively repolished to the highest of standards and in top showroom condition. We have also replaced the gilt tooled leather writing surface.
