This rare pair of original Victorian Wellington chests is made from mahogany with a deep reddish brown colour and a polished finish. Each tall, narrow cabinet stands 143 cm high, 68 cm wide, and 58 cm deep, resting on an enclosed plinth base beneath a moulded top. The design incorporates a bank of six drawers lined in mahogany and fitted with round brass ring drop handles. One side of each chest has a hinged locking pilaster. These gentleman's library items suit studies or bedrooms as organized storage for small garments, documents, or accessories. The timber shows natural grain variations and patination consistent with age.
