Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in classical antiquity and popularised during the 18th and 19th centuries, daybeds served as versatile furniture pieces designed for resting during daytime hours without reclining in a formal bedroom setting.

These pieces typically feature solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over pine frameworks, hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, and panelled endboards supported by turned or tapered legs.

Look for indicators of period construction such as hand-sawn timber marks, original iron or brass fixings beneath the frame, natural oxidisation on unworn surfaces, and slight structural irregularities typical of hand craftsmanship.

Position the daybed along a wide wall, beneath a window aperture, or at the foot of a bed, dressed with neutral wool throws and contemporary scatter cushions to blend historic timber tones with modern textures.

Keep the timber clear of direct sunlight and radiator heat sources, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually to preserve the finish.
