Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
Over a writing slope with a tooled black leather skiver. Lift the slope to reveal the original birch lined interior with two small drawers. Over a bank of four drawers in the right hand side below the desk. Beautifully figured burr walnut veneers across the piece with contrasting inlaid stringing and crossbanding and ebonised mouldings. Fine inlaid marquetry decoration to the front panel. Carved and pierced brackets below the slope, repeated above the front feet. Raised on the original ceramic castors. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied for the letter rack and writing slope.
