Victorian Walnut Pedestal Desk

19th century
Description

Circa 1860. A mid Victorian walnut and burr walnut three-part pedestal desk. The top with broad crossbanding with tooled and gilded burgundy leather, the leather is by Roy Kirby of London. The moulded fore edge top with three drawers in the frieze, each with burr walnut facings and cast brass swan neck handles, each pedestal with a bank of three graduating drawers with similar handles to the top. The desk is polished on all sides, making it free standing. Beneath the bottom drawer is a simple beading and the whole piece stands on two enclosed walnut plinths.
