Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Yomut Turkmen Soumak kilims are flatwoven wool carpets created by nomadic weavers in Central Asia during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They are defined by their supplementary-weft wrapping technique, known as Soumak, which creates a textured surface alongside traditional flatweave sections.

These textiles are constructed using hand-spun wool for both the warp and weft threads. The Soumak brocading technique wraps secondary decorative yarns around warp threads, producing durable geometric patterns and characteristic flatwoven border aprons known as palas ends.

Authentic early twentieth-century examples display natural plant-derived dyes, including madder red and indigo blue. Additionally, hand-spun wool exhibits subtle variations in yarn thickness, accompanied by intricate geometric lattice structures and selvage finishing techniques typical of tribal weaving.

A deep red geometric flatweave provides visual anchor points when paired with mid-century timber furniture or dark leather seating. The rich tones and structural motifs complement neutral colour palettes, bridging traditional craft with contemporary minimalist aesthetic schemes.

Regular maintenance requires gentle vacuuming without a rotating beater bar to prevent snagging the woven fibres. Professional cleaning by a specialist textile restorer is recommended, along with using a high-quality rug underlay to prevent sliding and wear.
