Antique Ersari Turkmen Torba of Scarce Design, Excellent Condition, Circa 1890.

Size: 5ft 1in x 1ft 1in (154 x 32cm).

Antique Ersari Turkmen torba with a scarce 'yurt' design.

Circa 1890.

A very good torba with a well drawn example of this classic Ersari design, this design is well documented and may represent yurts. The colour is superb with a clear red, the design in ivory stands out well against the red. The torba was probably a decoration for the camel used during a Turkmen wedding, a dowry item then displayed inside the family yurt.

The torba is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile.

Hand washed and ready for display.
