Heriz carpets originate from the Heris region in North-West Persia and are renowned for their robust, durable construction and distinctive geometric medallion designs.

These rugs are traditionally hand-knotted using durable highland wool pile on sturdy cotton foundations, employing natural vegetable dyes derived from madder root, indigo, and other plant sources.

Authenticity is identified through irregular hand-knotted foundations, natural dye variations known as abrage, heavy geometric anchoring, and sturdy, thick-piled wool construction characteristic of the region.

An antique Heriz rug anchors modern living spaces by providing rich colour, historical depth, and geometric contrast against neutral hardwood flooring or minimalist furnishings.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without beater bars, professional hand washing every few years, and avoiding direct sunlight to protect natural vegetable dyes.
