Title: "To The Rescue". Coble in rough sea off the Yorkshire Coast.

Signed and dated 1900. Oil on canvas.

Frederick Dade was born in Scarborough in 1874. Along with other important artists of the time he studied at Scarborough School of Art under Albert Strange and was among the prizewinners in 1891 and 1892. He carried on working and exhibiting in this area and also has pictures in important collections including London's National Maritime Museum, and the public art galleries of Whitby and Scarborough.
