Description

Mahogany knee hole desk of outstanding quality by Morison & Co of Edinburgh. This stunning desk has a beautifully pierced brass gallery and shaped top has an arrangement of three drawers across the top and three graduated drawers in each of the pedestal. All the drawers are oak lined, hand cut dove tail joint and retain the original handles and locks, sadly no key though. The warm mahogany drawer fronts have cockbeaded edges and decorated in fine satinwood string inlay. This desk has been made by skilled craftsman to the highest standard and is in excellent condition a great addition to a home office or study area.

James Morison took over the business from his father. By the time of his death, 2 June 1862, the cabinet maker was based in Edinburgh and trading as Morison & Co.
