Description:
The top section also includes two walnut pull-out writing slides, with their original brass oval handles, as well as three drawers. The top section is supported by moulded, crossbanded pedestals, which each feature a further two drawers. The drawers are constructed with hand-dovetail joints and mahogany linings which are quarter beaded. The drawers also retain their original shaped wooden handles along with the original working brass lever locks and key. The pedestals terminate on recessed walnut veneered plinths, resting on the original brass & porcelain castors. This desk boasts classic Art Deco styling in the clean lines, handles and feet. The desk dismantles into three sections, allowing for easier access into the property.
Condition Report:
The desk has been French polished by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and insides of drawers, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The desk is fitted with a new full grain black gold tooled leather, which is in excellent condition. Therefore, the leather is free from any marks, stains or rips common with old leather. The drawers retain their original shaped wooden handles, while the pull-out writing slides retain their original brass oval handles, locks and working key. The drawers are constructed with hand-dovetail joints, mahogany linings and quarter beading, which close flush to the frame. The desk dismantles into three sections, allowing for easier access into the property. The desk boasts a mellow walnut colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
