19th Century French mahogany directoire writing desk, the moulded edge top having a green leather writing surface decorated with blind and gilt tooling, the edge of the top having ebony inlay, pull out slides either side incorporating the same style as the top, the front of the desk consisting of four oak lined drawers with original brass escutcheons and decorative brass beading, all drawers have workable locks and keys, the right hand drawer having a lockable secret compartment, the reverse of the desk having faux drawers, each corner of the desk having an oval reeded panel incorporating a brass leaf, supported on elegant tapered turned legs with further brass decoration. Circa 1880.
