George III Mahogany Partners Desk

18th century
Description

Circa 1790. A good late George III mahogany partners desk of generous proportions. The rectangular top with rounded corners with embossed and tooled green leather insert. Front of the desk has one long and two short drawers with elegant turned knob handles, with two banks of three graduating drawers beneath, with have similar handles, other side of the desk has similar drawers in the top with cupboards beneath which have well figured mahogany panel doors with an ogee moulding which wraps round both pedestals, all resting on an enclosed polished mahogany plinth. The desk is polished on all sides, making it freestanding.
