A stunning French bronze sculpture of a roaring lion by the French artist Le Courtier. It is set on a carved marble base.
This wonderful sculpture is in very good condition with fine detail and a lovely gilded patination.
Prosper Le Courtier ( 1851 - 1924 )
Le Courtier was born in Meuse France on July 12th 1851. He studied under the great sculptor Emmanuel Fremiet. He exhibited at the Salon in 1875 until his death in 1924.
Le Courtier won various medals at the Salon and a bronze medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1900.
He is best known for his sculptures of animals, producing some wonderful pieces with a great attention to detail.
