Walton House Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The plinth base is unusually veneered and figured with plum pudding mahogany and the desk stands on concealed castors. The desk is in four sections; all the drawers are cock-beaded and oak lined and retain the gilt brass handles. The overall scale is chic and the desk will allow two people to work comfortable at the same time if required. The height of the desk is low compared to later 19th century desks, which is why this desk is rather stylish.
