Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Snaffles was the pseudonym of Charles Johnson Payne (18841967), a prominent British artist renowned for his humorous and detailed depictions of equestrian, military, and hunting life. His prints were widely published throughout the early to mid-twentieth century and remain significant examples of traditional British sporting illustration.

Original prints from this era were typically produced using lithographic techniques on heavy paper, occasionally featuring hand-tinted colouring or pochoir highlights. They were mounted using paper boards and housed behind protective glass within timber frames.

Authentic prints often feature the artists printed or hand-written signature, specific title lettering, and occasionally a blindstamp depicting a bit or bridle motif in the margin. Paper age, printing sharpness, and appropriate period mounting techniques also help verify authenticity.

Equestrian prints function well when hung as part of a gallery wall alongside tailored dark wood furniture, modern leather seating, or neutral linen backdrop panels. The contrast between traditional subject matter and clean modern lines creates a balanced aesthetic.

Prints should be framed using acid-free mounting materials and UV-filtering glass to prevent yellowing, foxing, and colour fading. Display the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, and areas with high humidity.
