It was listed by Haliden Oriental Carpets. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.
Haliden Oriental Carpets has dated this piece to the 1850s.
A very heavy piece, like a Bijar, Persian knotted with cotton warps.
Allover Flowers and leaves with glorious natural dyes on navy ground.
The intense dyes, high quality weave and shape of the carpet suggest a date of at least mid 19th century or before.
Given the early dating the piece remains in extraordinary condition, good pile, with all original ends and sides and little or no repair.
It has just been deep cleaned.
Circa 1850.
