Antique Afghan Baluch Saddle Bag with Back, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 2ft 11in x 2ft 6in (88 x 76cm).

Antique Baluch saddle bag with plain weave back. Western Afghanistan.

Circa 1900.

The saddle bag is one side of a pair, known as 1/2 Khorjin; or half saddle bag. The bag has a piled face and a stripped plain weave back, the design to the face has a small star to the centre surrounded by well known Baluch designs.

The saddle bag is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and full pile. Note the original decorative closing panel at the top of the bag face and the goats hair closing loops. A good saddle bag in untouched original condition.
