Description

A lovely quality mid 19th Century carved oak twin pedestal partners desk, the moulded edge top having a red leather writing surface decorated with gold and blind tooling, the front of the desk having an arrangement of nine graduated, oak lined drawers with original engraved brass knob handles, each drawer front having lovely intricate crisp carving of a pair of mythical creatures, each end of the desk having decorative turned and carved columns, the reverse of the desk is exactly the same as the front, the sides having linen fold panels and the same carving at the top as on the drawer fronts, supported on a moulded edge plinth base and brass castors. Superb quality carving and having a lovely warm oak colour. Circa 1860.
