Antique Caucasian Talish Long Rug, Outstanding Condition and Colour, Circa 1880.

Description

Size: 8ft 2in x 3ft 9in (250 x 115cm).

Antique Caucasian Talish long rug with abrashed indigo blue field.

Circa 1880.

This is an outstanding example of a Talish long rug, it has a classic Talish design and ivory ground rosette border, the change in colour (abrash) in the lower half of the plain indigo blue field adds visual interest. The use of yellow in the small reciprocal design on the edge of the blue field is a nice feature.

The rug is in superb condition with very slight even wear and good pile, the wool is soft and the weave is fine.

Hand washed and ready for use or display.

A truly outstanding example of type.
