In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

19th-century Continental genre paintings often depict everyday rural or domestic life, regional attire, and narrative scenes using rich oil pigments and realistic or romanticised natural backdrops.

Artworks of this period were predominantly painted in oil on canvas or timber panels, housed within solid hardwood frames such as oak, mahogany, or gilt pine, and occasionally glazed for protection.

Authenticity is evaluated through naturally occurring craquelure patterns, canvas weave, natural oxidation on reverse wood panels, age-appropriate joint construction, and hand-applied paint layers.

Substantial dark wood framed paintings provide grounding visual weight when displayed as a focal point above sideboards, integrated into gallery walls, or paired with minimalist modern furniture.

Dust frames regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, maintain stable temperature and humidity levels away from direct sunlight, and avoid spraying liquids directly onto glazing or timber.
