Description

A stunning, freestanding mahogany and inlaid late Victorian Carlton House desk attributed to Edwards & Roberts of London. The upper section having 3 pierced brass galleries with a central shelf flanked by shaped stationary and storage boxes with lift up lids and floral marquetry inlay. The lower section having a shaped top with satinwood cross banding between boxwood and ebony lines and a quality green leather writing surface with blind and gold tooling. The central frieze drawer flanked by bow fronted pedestals each having 3 graduated and inlaid drawers again with fine marquetry inlay and retaining all the original brass handles. The stiles having further marquetry inlay with graduated harebells, the sides with satinwood banding and boxwood outline stinging.
