An Edwardian Mahogany Pedestal Desk

1900 - 1920
Description

A fine Edwardian mahogany pedestal desk, the rectangular top with gilt tooled hide insert and banded border, finely carved edge over two short drawers and a long central drawer on twin pedestals each with three graduated drawers with brass handles, and with panelled sides on plinth bases with concealed castors. English circa 1900.

Condition: Excellent, the structure is very solid, and the wood has good colour. The leather is proper hide and has excellent gilt tooling, there are some marks on the leather commensurate with age. The carving on the edge of the top is crisply done and the handles are the originals.
