This spectacular large Persian carpet comes from the City of Yazd, famous for its connection with Zoroastrianism. The design is full of wonderful ornamentation and a rich range of colours. The central medallion is a tour-de-force and would transform any setting. Note the numerous elegantly drawn floral details surrounding the medallion. The field design is very nicely framed by an elegant midnight blue border filled with floral ornamentation. the overall impact is of a tremendously luxurious example of Persian art, In addition, the quality is excellent. It is finely knotted and has soft velvety wool. There is a workshop signature in the top border which confirms that this is the work of a master craftsman. Cherished over the generations, it has survived in very good condition, with minimal signs of wear. The colours remain fresh and vibrant. Professionally cleaned, this carpet is ready for immediate use and would enhance many settings.
