A Fine Late 19th Century Mahogany Writing Table Desk

Description

A fine late 19th century mahogany serpentine fronted writing table, the top with dark green tooled leather insert and a superstructure comprising twin compartments with hinged covers and dividers inside each inlaid in boxwood with a rose within an olive wreath, a arched back panel with further boxwood inlay and with serpentine moulded shelf, over a central drawer with carved scrolling frieze below and three drawers to each side, all with original gilt brass handles, on square section cabriole supports. English circa 1890. Height to the desktop is 75 cm (29.5”)

Condition: Excellent, the structure is sound, the leather is the original and nicely worn, the inlay is in good condition and the piece has a good deep rich colour and lovely patination.
