A Quality Writing Table by Collinson and Lock

A Rare Writing Table in Rosewood By the eminent London cabinet making firm of Collinson and Lock, it has an upper platform with a brass gallery, it stands on very delicate legs which are finely carved, the leather inset is in excellent condition and could be original, the quality and condition of this rare desk is excellent in every way, Collinson and Lock were at one point the most highly regarded Cabinet Making firm equal to Gillows, they employed some of the best designers' including E Collcut, J Moyr-Smith, AH Mackmurdo, EW Goodwin HW Batley and Stephen Webb many of their designs were in the aesthetic taste fashionable at the time, The Victoria and Albert Museum have a large collection of furniture by them including one item bought directly from the

London International exhibition of 1871 they were eventually taken over by Gillows in 1897 and many of their designs were used in the catalogue of Gillows
