1920 - 1940
Description

a wonderful little early 20th Century oil on board, depicting sunny climes and a moored boat, with a sailing boat on the waters beyond. With a distinct art deco influence, the painting has a fresh, gentle and relaxed feel to it. French in origin and of excellent quality, it is signed at the lower right. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco landscapes from this era bridge post-impressionism and modernism, featuring simplified geometric structures, stylised forms, and a restrained, harmonious colour palette influenced by interwar European art movements.

Artists during the 1930s frequently painted using artist-grade oil paints applied directly onto wooden panels, artist board, or stretched linen canvas, often finished with a protective varnish.

Authentic period works typically display natural age-related patination on the reverse of the board, historical framers labels, period-appropriate brushwork techniques, and contemporary artist signatures.

Position the painting as a focal accent above a sideboard, mantelpiece, or within a gallery wall, complementing it with mid-century or contemporary minimalist furniture to highlight its structural composition.

Display oil paintings away from direct sunlight, radiators, and high humidity to prevent warping or paint cracking. Dust the surface very gently using a clean, soft, dry artist brush.
