Description

Khalamkari is a Persian term for the art of block printing which was highly developed in the 19th century. This beautiful hanging is printed on fine cotton and depicts a scene from Persian literature. Note the elegance of the couple in the foreground, but also the charming details scattered throughout the work. Wonderful colouring. The inscription in the top cartouche tells the story. Totally charming and in excellent condition.
