Early 19th Century Mahogany Pedestal Partners Desk

19th century
Description

A splendid quality late William IV/Early Victorian mahogany PARTNERS DESK in wonderful condition, with a beautiful gilt-tooled leather writing surface.

Below the double sided top are three drawers across the full width on each side, the two pedestals each have three graduated drawers arranged either side of the kneehole.

Whilst the other side of the desk has two cupboards with an adjustable height shelf inside. All drawers and cupboards are lined in mahogany. One drawer is fitted with compartments to keep day-to-day items separated.

Note: Thomas Willson is entered in directories as a furniture broker and appraiser of 68 Great Queen Street between 1821 and 1829. From 1830-37 the Great Queen Street business was continued by his wife Mary Willson & Son. After 1838 it is listed at the same address as 'Matthew Wilson, furniture warehouse, furniture work, upholsterer', until 1854. The stamp to the top of one drawer in this desk is therefore enigmatic, and could relate to either Mary or Matthew Willson, and given that the desk is in an earlier style, could therefore have been produced any time between 1830 and 1854

A practical desk with ample lockable storage and very attractive .

c.1830-1850

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
