Victorian Mahogany Partners Desk

19th century
Description

Circa 1860, Victorian mahogany freestanding partner’s desk. The rectangular top has a gilt-tooled, olive green writing surface within figured Spanish mahogany cross banding and moulded fore-edges. The 3 frieze drawers have twin finely turned knobs and ash drawer liners (sign of quality), and it has a pull-out central writing slide. This is supported on banks of graduated drawers on enclosed plinth bases. The back has matching dummy drawers.
