Description

A wonderfully painted C18th pair of decorated Italian maolica plates, the first with a border of typical form with scrolls and cherubs, the central picture being a scholar reading with his wife and child sat next to him against a monument of some kind, the other with similar border depicts three a couple of bacchalian cherubs and a goat near a tree.

The first good no cracks or splits the other restored having been broken in many places
