Andros Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
All 9 drawers are of great depth, as expected of a desk of this quality, beautifully made with good timber, and offer lots of storage.

The pedestals drawers can be locked with the locking side bars, similar to a Wellington Chest, with their Bramah locks. The outside top drawers have secondary locking with supplementary locks. The middle drawer has a Bramah lock as well. Obviously, this desk was made to keep very valuable documents safe.

The rear is finished with a full compliment of faux drawers, meaning that this desk looks good from any angle and can be displayed in the centre of a room. Many of these features shown on this desk, locking side bars, central wooden knob to the drawers and moulded paneled sides are reminiscent of Gillows pieces, and although there is no sign of any makers stamp is of similar quality to those pieces made by the renowned maker.

The decoratively tooled, distressed full hide in a faded green colour sets the piece off very well. The desk dismantles into three pieces for easy transportation. Very pleased to be able to offer a desk of this importance for sale.
All locks have been professionally restored and supplied with their own working key.
