An exquisite French mahogany piano-front, roll-top desk of superior quality.
Mid 19th century c1850.
Featuring a new gold leather, gold tooled inset writing surface.
Above are three drawers, with beautifully turned wooden handles in dished surrounds.
Below the writing surface are three further drawers, with one drawer internally having a safe box, and removable compartmented tray.
The drawers are heavy and oak lined, constructed using very thick timbers. All original locks and escutcheons.
Standing on elegant but sturdy, turned and reeded supports, with ball feet.
An outstanding desk, of great craftsmanship. Stunning figuring and rich colour to the mahogany.
Such a great design, as any mess or clutter can be cleverly shut away from sight !
Dismantles into three sections, so extremely easy to maneuver and get around any awkward corners.
In excellent antique condition. Very minimal signs of use. The leather is new and unused. There is a key which fits the piano front only.
Very solid, strong and sturdy.
