An absolutely unique and rare desk of the Carlton House design. Made from wonderful cuts of mahogany with huge detail to the drawer fronts in the manner of Robert Adam, with foliate swags beautifully carved. To the legs are the most marvelously worked Baroque style mythical horned faces, terminating in huge hairy paw feet. The galleried top has a combination of drawers and cupboards, plus a new tooled leather writing surface. There are carved, moulded edges all the way around this desk which allows it to be used off the wall and looks almost as good at the rear as the front. Quite possibly of Irish origins and of the highest quality of cabinet making. There is a close matching bergere chair with the desk which is an excellent match.
