Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has a moulded top with rounded corners and a burgundy tooled leather writing insert above a long drawer over knee hole. Each pedestal has four graduating oak lined drawers with beautiful turned handles. This spectacular desk stands on a moulded rounded plinth and has been finished at the back so may be placed in the centre of a room, it also splits into three sections for easy removal. The satin birch has aged to a rich golden shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
