Superb Victorian Jack in a Box Davenport

Description

A Super Quality Pop Up or Jack in a Box Davenport in Burr Walnut with Box Wood inlay, full working order , the stationary compartment is released with a lever in one of the small drawers this allows it to rise as if by magic (there are weights inside which allow this). it has a writing slide which draws forward and the slope can sit at an angle by means of a bracket underneath the slope

The condition is fantastic with a lovely mellow colour to the Walnut, the lock and key is working

circa 1850
