Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
1890 and has a rectangular moulded top with green tooled leather writing insert above a central drawer over knee hole. Each pedestal has four graduating drawers with decorative brass handles, moulded edges and key with several working locks. The desk stands on a moulded plinth with castors, is finished on all sides so can be placed in the centre of a room if desired and it splits into three sections of easy removal. It has the usual minor old repairs, beautiful charm and character and is a rich warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
