Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has a rectangular moulded top with red tooled leather writing insert above a central drawer over knee hole. Each pedestal has four graduating mahogany lined drawers with the original brass handles and tapered sides. This stunning desk stands on a moulded plinth with castors and is finished all the way around so may be placed in the centre of a room if desired. The walnut has aged to a rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
