Antique North West Persian Village Rug

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Haliden Oriental Carpets

A very unusual and probably quite early Persian village rug with good dyes and archaic design.

I’m unsure of exactly where it was made, but somewhere in North West Persia is my best guess. Fine red wool wefts and the distinctive colour palate point to Karaja, but design elements are unusual for this group.

Whatever, an attractive piece, well made with intense dyes and beautiful wool.

he condition is pretty good, though some of the blue has corroded and it is flat in places. Ends stopped, very clean and floor ready.

Circa 1870.
