This is a fine quality antique Regency style 5ft 9” wide mahogany partner’s leather library table, circa 1890, in good condition. Constructed in the style of the Regency period, which was between 1810 – 1820, it boasts classic Regency detailing from the elegant brass studded drop ring handles and escutcheons to the splay reeded legs. The top incorporates a new single piece sage green, gilt and blind-tooled leather, flanked by a mahogany cross-banding, chamfered corners with a quality cyma recta moulding below three large working drawers either side. This type of table was designed to stand in the. The drawers are decorated with twin-beaded moulded fronts, constructed with hand-dovetail joints, cedar linings and internal quarter beading. The drawers retain their original brassware, consisting of elegant brass circular drop ring handles and key escutcheons, adorned with fine floral stud detail. All six drawers retain their original working locks with keys. The table is raised on reeded rectangular columns, supported by splay reeded legs, which terminate on the original brass lion paw toes and castors.

Both sides are a mirror-match of each other; the table was designed to stand in the centre of a room so that the three working drawers were accessible either side. This library table is a truly classic design from the Regency period. All in all, this is a very pretty and good quality table.
