There is a considerable amount of information about the characters on the reverse side of each framed picture. The name ''Spy'' was the name used by a very well known prolific artist named Sir Leslie Ward (1851-1922). He was born into an British aristocratic family, and many of his caricatures were of people he knew. Nearly all of them appeared in Vanity Fair magazine.
