Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has a rectangular moulded top with tooled leather writing insert above a central drawer over knee hole. One pedestal comprises of four graduating mahogany lined drawers with the original brass handles whilst the opposite side comprises of a drawer above a working cupboard. The sides are panelled so maybe placed in the centre of the room if so desired and the piece as a whole stands on a moulded plinth with castors. This splendid desk splits into three sections for easy removal and is full of the charm and character that you would expect to find from a true antique. The Oak has aged to a rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
