Old Shiraz Region Rug, Qashqai or Khamseh Weavers, Traditional Design, Circa 1920.

1900 - 1920
Description

Size: 4ft 9in x 3ft 10in (144 x 117cm).

Old tribal rug, Shiraz region, probably by settled weavers from the Khamseh or Qashqai tribe.

Circa 1920

A good small rug with a large central medallion filled with flowers, shrubs and tribal design elements. The main medallion is in a earthy rust red. This contrasts well with the dark indigo blue of the outer field, which contains a large 'sunburst' or floral medallion in each corner.

Very good condition with very slight even wear and good pile. The wool is very soft and glossy.

Hand washed and ready for use.

An excellent furnishing rug suitable for normal domestic use.
