A most unusual and useful Welsh oak dresser, with a central section comprising an open plate rack with backboards over a base with a pair of drawers above a potboard, the whole flanked by two panelled cupboards above sets of four drawers.
This is not only a unique design - to my knowledge - but the colour and surface patination is stunning.
It breaks down into six sections for removal.
West Wales, circa 1760
Height: 86 inches; 218.5 cms
Width: 95.5 inches; 242.5 cms
Depth: 18 inches; 46 cms
(Restoration: Originally there may have been a cornice around the top, which survives in a portion along the top of the backboards of the plate rack. The boards on the top of the cupboards and parts of the drawer linings have been replaced. The two main drawer fronts appear to have been replaced many years ago. Replaced hooks and handles).
