19thc Fine Quality Chippendale Style Mahogany Writing Table

A late 19th century fine quality Chippendale style mahogany writing table of good proportions stamped S&H Jewell, Holborn, London.

This writing table consists of a brown leather tooled top (recently replaced) with a finely carved moulding to the edge.

Underneath are two drawers with fine quality mahogany veneers to the fronts with lion mask handles, the drawer linings also being in mahogany.

There are two dummy drawers of identical design to the opposite side making this a freestanding piece.

Each or the corners has a recessed carved flower design with good quality mahogany veneers to the sides and a carved moulding to the edge below.

The four cabriole legs have carved foliate decoration and terminate with finely carved ball and claw feet.

The cabinetmakers stencilled stamp can be found on a drawer bottom 'S&H Jewells, Little Queen Street, Holborn' who were based in London and making funiture from around 1830-1900.

This writing table is in excellent condition and can go straight into a home or office.
