A Fine and Rare Japanese Imari Dish with Serrated Rim, Early 18th Century

Description

For sale is this rare very fine Japanese Imari palette dish with a wide lobbed serrated rim dating to the early part of the 18th century. The dish decorated with a central jardinière of chrysanthemums and peony, the unusual rim picked out with bamboo between clouds and birds. The dish is in undamaged or restored condition and retains almost all of its original gilt and green enamels. The dial is 24cm in diameter and 3.9cm high. It is rare to find dishes of this type without any damage.
