Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has a rectangular moulded top with burgundy faux leather writing insert above a long central drawer and over knee hole. Each pedestal has four graduating mahogany lined drawers with brass swan neck handles. This stunning desk has been finished all the way around so may be placed in the centre of a room if so desired. The sides are reeded and the piece as a whole stands on a moulded plinth with castors and splits into three sections for easy removal. The oak has aged to a warm rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
