This is one of the finest roll top desks ever made circa 1890 and in fantastic condition. Satinwood and ebony crossbanded to all side(including the rear). Ormolu handles throughout. Solid mahogany drawer linings and pigeon holes. Fretted brass gallery. Original tooled leather writing surface. All locks by J.T.NEEDS OF 100 NEW BOND ST LATE J.BRAMAH 124, PICCADILLY reputedly the spring locks are unpickable. We have keys for the Tambour, all the right hand drawers and the top left. Bramah are regarded as amongst he finest locksmiths ever to practice and some of their locks were used by cabinetmakers Holland and Son London,which would be in line with the craftsmanship afforded to this desk.
