Description

A magnificent 19th.Century carved oak fire surround. The upright supports with life sized carving of apples, pears, figs and other exotic fruits. The wonderful corbels with acanthus leaf decoration complimenting the well carved frieze and shaped mantle support. The original overmantle top fits snuggly into the base although not shown very clearly in the photos (photographed in 2 pieces). The architectural top with double, broken arch pediments all with good depth and quality carving. The 3 bevel edged mirrors surrounded with further carved fruit. This spectacular fire surround would make a grand statement in any room, either a large country house, hotel or restaurant. It is in excellent condition and has a warm medium oak patina.
