The style of this desk and its brassware accentuate the best of the Arts & Crafts movement. The desk boasts a good quality dark blue (near black colour) and a gold tool inset leather flanked a by a triple thumb moulded top. Below, there are 4 large working graduated drawers to each pedestal and a central drawer above the kneehole area. The front of the desk boasts moulded drawers along with the original “bell shape” brass drop handles and floral key escutcheons. The hand dovetailed drawer linings and drawer bottoms are constructed of top quality solid oak; they even feature quarter beading in the corners of the drawer linings (which is a sign of quality). Each of the drawers boast their original locks with a working key. Below, the pedestal bases feature traditional Victorian round corner plinths. The desk was designed to be freestanding in the centre of a room. The back of the desk combines dummy cupboard doors with dummy metal strap hinges on a polished back. This is a single piece desk, which does not dismantle.

Condition Report:
This desk is in very good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the desk, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The hand-dovetailed drawers are constructed of solid oak and each drawer boasts the original working lock (with a key). The drawers close flush to the frame. The dark blue and gold tool leather is in excellent condition with no marks, damage or stains. We can replace the desk with a different colour leather if preferred. This is a single piece desk, which does not dismantle. This desk is solid in joint; the desk does not wobble and is ready to use.
